SERPENTINE

King Nikola’s Serpentines are a beautiful and historic mountain route that stretches from Kotor to Njeguš. This road, named after King Nicholas I, was built at the end of the 19th century and is one of the most important engineering achievements of that time.

Serpentine is one of the most impressive and beautiful roads in Montenegro. This old mountain, cult road is specific for its curves, of which there are as many as 25, and it leads from Kotor to the mountain pass near the village of Ljuta.

The serpentines consist of a series of sharp bends that rise above Kotor, offering spectacular views of the Bay of Kotor. While driving along this road, you can enjoy the surreal panoramas that encompass the old town of Kotor, its fortresses and the surrounding mountains.

At the top of the serpentine, the view extends to the beautiful Montenegrin areas, and each bend represents a new perspective, a new landscape, from fragrant pine forests to spacious viewpoints with panoramic views of the bay, surrounding mountains and settlements.
